چکیده

The experiments were conducted for monitoring crop area by spatial sampling methods in a winter wheat main production region with a size of 42Km×42Km in Hengshui City, Hebei Province in China to optimize designs of the frameworks and elements (sample size, sample-square dimension), based on Remote Sensing (RS) and Geographical Information System (GIS) techniques. 5 sample-square dimension levels (3000m×3000m, 2000m×2000m, 1000m×1000m, 500m×500m and 300m×300m) were selected and 3 sampling techniques (simple random sampling, systematic sampling and stratified sampling) were applied. The experimental results demonstrate that the sampling efficiency by stratified sampling was the maximal (the average relative error was 0.15%, the average sample size varied from 9 to 10); and that of the systematic sampling was inferior (the average relative error varies from 0.74%~2.06%, the average sample size is 229); the sampling efficiency by simple random sampling was the minimum (the average relative error is 2.04%, the average sample size is 229) among 3 sampling techniques. Sampling relative error decreased with sample-square dimension simultaneously. When the sample-square dimension was reduced to a certain extent (the size of sample is 500m×500m), the error was not declining any more. The sampling relative error was the minimum using the sample-square with a size of 500m×500m among 5 sample-square dimension levels.

Sensitivity Analysis of Spatial Sampling Designs for Optimal Prediction

In spatial statistic, the data analyzed which is correlated and this correlation is due to their locations in the studied region. Such correlation that is related to distance between observations is called spatial correlation. Usually in spatial data analysis, the prediction of the amount of uncertain quantity in arbitrary 4locations of the area is considered according to attained observations ...

Zoning hydraulic conductivity using different geostatistical methods (Case study Shavoor)

In studies of irrigation and drainage projects for drainage, it is necessary to extend the data from the sampling point to the network. Therefore, based on available data from observational wells, estimating the state of hydraulic conductivity (K) in the surrounding area. The estimation process values for locations where there is no information for them based on viewing areas called wells spati...

Application of adaptive sampling in fishery part 1: Adaptive cluster sampling and its strip designs

Abstract:  The precision of conventional sampling designs is not usually satisfactory for estimating parameters of clump and rare populations. Many of fish species live in school and disperse all over a vast area like a sea so that they are rare compare to their habitats. Theory of a class of sampling designs called adaptive sampling designs has rapidly grown during last decade which solved the...

Optimized spatial sampling of soil for estimation of the variogram by maximum likelihood

Recent studies have attempted to optimize the configuration of sample sites for estimation of the variogram by the usual method-of-moments. This paper shows that objective functions can readily be defined for estimation by the method of maximum likelihood. In both cases an objective function can only be defined for a specified variogram so some prior knowledge about the spatial variation of the...
